The Pilates method, originally named Contrology, was created by Joseph Pilates and is based on the principles of breath, alignment, control, precision, flexibility and flow. Pilates was first developed as a rehabilitation program for prisoners of war during World War I.

Although it has gained the attention of the mainstream fitness world in just the last 10 years, Pilates has been strengthening and lengthening bodies for much longer. It was 1926 when Joseph H. Pilates and his wife Clara emigrated from Germany to the United States and opened a fitness studio in New York City, serving clients as diverse as ballet dancers and boxers.

STOTT PILATES is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. The Stott Pilates method uses modern principles of exercise science & spinal rehabilitation, making it one of the safest and most effective methods available. It is used by beginners, serious fitness enthusiasts, rehab and prenatal clients, elite athletes and everyone in between.
